AMFA President and Vice President Letter - Spring 2023
AMFA President and Vice President Letter - Spring 2023
Greetings AMFA members!
We hope you are experiencing great success as the hope of spring is just around the corner. We believe AMFA has renewed hope for success with some recent changes.
As you may have heard the AMFA board of directors has reduced the number of acting directors from 11 to seven in an effort to drive improved focus and greater board director engagement. As a part of this process each returning director has reaffirmed their commitment to the organization and its mission. As a nonprofit organization with minimal staff, it is critical to the organization’s success to have an engaged board that is knowledgeable and available to help deliver value to its members.
The current AMFA Board of Directors includes:
Jeff Halter, AMFA President, Range Steel Fabricators
Rally Hess, AMFA Vice President, Hibbing Fabricators
Dustin Thibodeau, AMFA Secretary, Northland Machine, Inc.
Heath Boe, AMFA Treasurer, Minnesota North College
Wade Karnes, AMFA Director, Zakobe LLC
Todd Maki, AMFA Director, GPM
Joe Wolff, AMFA Director, Marsh McLennan Agency
The reaffirmed board of directors is bringing a lot of energy and focus to moving our mission forward throughout 2023 and beyond. One of the key initiatives is to realign our committee structure and put efforts into recruiting a broad base of volunteers from within our member firms to actively engagement on a committee.
Joining a committee gives individuals a voice in the direction of the association and creates an army of promoters for AMFA. We’d like to take this opportunity to share our refreshed committee structure and extend an invitation to all employees at member firms to consider volunteering for a committee that you have a passion around. The committees and their purposes are:
- Membership Recruitment & Retention Committee
- Create and maintain pipeline tracking mechanism for new members
- Member value recruitment materials
- Member satisfaction
- Trade Show Planning & Execution Committee
- Actively assist with planning and execution of AMFA presence at FabTech and trade shows
- Program, Events & Meetings Committee
- Actively assist with planning and execution of lunch/tour/speaker meetings, Beers & Bolts, the Golf Social, and Beer Tasting events
- Education Committee
- Planning and execution of AMFA contributions and engagements with the education systems in our region such as the Tour of Manufacturing, Educational Trust grants, high school and college partnerships.
Please register to attend the upcoming Luncheon Meeting on Wednesday, March 8 in Tower. The speaker will be Shayla Drake from DEED on Who and How to Connect for Workforce Grants and Partnerships. Following the meeting we will tour Lamppa Manufacturing.
We are also excited to host the 10th Annual Beverage Tasting Fundraiser & Social on Thursday, April 13 at Clyde Iron Works in Duluth. This is an important event to raise funds that will benefit manufacturing career awareness in the region. We are currently looking for vendors and sponsors. This is a really fun event in a great atmosphere! Don’t forget to register to attend!
AMFA – please help us to create success in this valuable organization by getting involved and participating in our events. We’ll see you all on March 8th in Tower!
Regards,
Jeff and Rally
