Workforce Development Webinar Series
Webinar Series: Workforce Development
11am on the last Wednesday of the month
Session 5
Presentation Description:
Does your business want to engage with high school students, but not sure where to start? Who do you contact at the schools? Do you have a plan for the student? Is it a plan that can be utilized at multi-levels of the organization (i.e.: interns, new hires, current employees)? This employer guide will prepare you for engaging the future workforce and offering a successful internship.
We are aware that there are twice as many job openings as available workers. We’ve heard about the great resignation, early retirements, housing shortages, and the childcare crisis. Let’s compare these challenges with this talent pool. Our future workforce is motivated to explore careers. They are not looking for housing or childcare, and they are on the opposite side of retirement.
Emerging from a 20-year career in Human Resources, Amy Johnson is an entrepreneur and workforce strategist bridging teachers and employers for the sake of building the future workforce. Amy oversees youth workforce programs for Otter Tail County, bridging their fourteen school districts with businesses of all sizes and industry.
Amy grew up in the northwest suburbs of Minneapolis and found her way to rural Minnesota in search of a quality of life. Understanding the differences between metro and rural, she continues to advocate for the quality of rural life and helps individuals re-skill their metropolitan career in order to live rural.
