Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) -  What is it and is it right for you?  We will explain what this specific type of retirement plan is and how it can benefit business owners, their companies, and the employees who work for them.  


 

John Prodoehl is a VP of Consulting at Principal®. He has over 30 years of experience in the retirement planning industry and has extensive experience concentrating on clients with employer securities in their plans.

Within Principal, John is responsible for all new ESOP opportunities in the Midwest and Plains states. His areas of technical expertise include ESOP consulting for existing ESOPs with a focus on ESOP sustainability, repurchase liability forecasting and planning, and plan design alternatives. John also specializes in ESOP transaction design and consulting for companies exploring an ESOP.

John is an active member of The ESOP Association (TEA), the National Center for Employee Ownership (NCEO), and the Wisconsin Chapter of TEA.

He has co-authored several articles on various ESOP topics.

John earned Bachelor of Business Administration degrees in Finance and Risk Management/Insurance from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.

John has been married for 29 years, and has two daughters, Eve and Lily, and a son, Jack. In his free time, he enjoys golf, cycling, hiking, and taking family trips to national parks.
