AMFA Presidents Letter - Summer 2025

Greetings to AMFA members, associates, and friends!

This season of graduations is upon us which means summer is here. And that means it’s time for GOLF!

Time to get registered – The 27th Annual AMFA Golf Social is coming up! Join us on June 18 at The Quarry at Giant’s Ridge in Biwabik—one of Minnesota’s top golf destinations—for a day of friendly competition and community connection. If you haven’t played this premier course yet, now’s your chance!

We encourage you to register today so we can plan accordingly and make this event the best yet. Your participation directly supports the AMFA Educational Trust, which has awarded over $210,000 in grants to local schools for shop equipment, field trips, robotics teams, and more. Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy a fantastic day on the green and invest in the future of manufacturing education.

The Northeast Minnesota Tour of Manufacturing returns October 22–24, offering students the chance to explore local manufacturing facilities firsthand. AMFA is proud to coordinate this regional event alongside partner organizations and is currently seeking manufacturers to host tours. This is a powerful opportunity to engage with the next generation of workers and help reshape outdated perceptions of manufacturing. Contact Carolyn to host a tour or Katie to become an event sponsor.

Over 40 educators attended AMFA’s Northeast Minnesota Manufacturing Teacher Summit on May 14 in Hibbing. Following the summit AMFA hosted the 12th Annual Beverage Tasting Fundraiser at Iron Horse in Hibbing with over 80 people in attendance. It was a fun event in a great atmosphere that raised funds for the AMFA Educational Trust! Congratulations to the axe throwing champs: First place to Kevin Hagen & Isaac Hildenbrand (National Bank of Commerce); Second place to Alexi & Warren Engdahl (Hibbing residents); and third place to Lucas Landgren & Justin LeBlanc (Range Tool Company LLC).

We are very excited to welcome eight new members to AMFA: Deer River Schools, Floodwood School District, Hill City School, Mavo Systems, McGregor High School, Moose Lake High School, Northern Solar Light, and SCR, Inc. See more details in the New Member section of the newsletter. And shout out to our members with anniversaries this quarter: 25 years: HydroSolutions of Duluth; 20 years: Apex; 15 years: GoEngineer; five years: Greenway Public Schools.

We are looking for speakers, manufacturer tours, and sponsors for fall meetings. Please contact Carolyn with your ideas and information.

I would also like to encourage your registration and participation in all our upcoming events. We are here to help you succeed, but we need your help and your participation for us to continue to succeed!

Wishing you all the best! Please remember to sign up for golf today!

Best Regards,
Rally Hess,
AMFA President
