Bradley Vieths, Dean of Business and Industry for Lake Superior College
Where do you work, what do you do? I work at Lake Superior College in Duluth, MN. In my role, I serve as the administrator and advocate for 17 career programs ranging from manufacturing to professional flight. My job entails working to ensure our programs are providing not only up-to-date industry training but providing our students with a broad baseline skillset that lets them enter a variety of careers. Most of my job entails management, budgeting, student relations, and connecting our programs to industry and four-year college
What was your first job? My first job was a dishwasher at a supper club in central MN
Hometown? Pillager MN
Family? I am married to the most amazing woman, Brenda, and we are raising our one daughter, Megan (10), and 3 pets—Hunter, Reinn and Tiga.
Do you have any hobbies, play any sports or favorite games? I love the outdoors, hence living in northern MN. I am an avid mountain biker, fly fisherman, and cook/brewer.
Comment on your involvement with AMFA: I have been involved with AMFA for 6 years and on the board for 5.5 of those years. Over that time, I have been proud to serve as the connection between education K-12 and college and our amazing membership. I have served on several sub-committees and also serve on the ET and Legacy boards in AMFA.
What would AMFA members be surprised to learn about you? Two things: I have driven a stockcar at Talladega (average lap speed 156mph); coached in the NCAA tournament (DIII); and I make my own maple syrup.
